Him: At the beginning of this year, while planning for the year ahead, I wondered what I would get for my wife for our anniversary. We were turning 5 years since we said our vows. I then thought we lived in the city of diamonds, so maybe getting a diamond would be a good idea. That was when I called Robin and asked for a meeting. A couple of days later, I was sitting across from Robin in his office as he talked me through what a diamond is…shape, color, cut….etc., I was amazed at the process it takes to create a finished diamond.

This is the story of how Yasuhiro Tsumura flew from Japan to South Africa in search of the perfect natural polished diamond for his then-girlfriend. Some may call it a fairytale, we call it unwavering love and commitment.

Back in high school, Yasuhiro learned about Kimberley’s diamond history and made a promise to one day propose with a diamond from there. Years later, he honoured that promise, travelling across the world to make it a reality.

After two days of searching, he found OCGems on his final day. Inspired by his story, we were proud to help him find the perfect diamond while sharing in a cultural exchange along the way.

It was truly an honour to be part of this journey. At OCGems, we value relationships deeply, because our diamonds don’t just symbolise beauty, but love, commitment, and lasting connection.
