THE 4 C’s

Diamonds are formed 180-220 km beneath the earth’s surface under extreme temperatures (900-1300 degrees) and pressure (45-60 Kilobars). Transported to the earth’s surface by the extremely hot kimberlite magma, they then further endure extreme challenges where the diamond-bearing ore is blasted using dynamites, then crashes during the mining process. The diamond journey doesn’t end there, as it must still undergo the process of being cut & polished, and set onto a piece of jewelry upon completion. Finally, it reaches its destination and serves its #PURPOSE!!! by sweeping a lucky lady off her feet. It constantly reminds her through the test of time that she is valued, adored and loved beyond measure.

COLOUR

Standard diamonds range from colorless to light yellow or brown, also known as standard colors. These are graded on a scale (D–Z), with colorless stones being the most precious. Fancy colors—like blue, pink, or green—are graded separately and are rarer and more valuable.

Cut

A diamond’s cut determines how well it reflects light and showcases its brightness, fire, and scintillation. The main sections are the crown, girdle, and pavilion, polished into facets. Common cuts include:

  • Brilliant cut – e.g., round with 57–58 facets

  • Fancy cuts – marquise, princess, pear, emerald, etc., with step or brilliant styles

Clarity

Clarity refers to the absence of inclusions (internal imperfections) and blemishes (surface flaws), as seen at 10× magnification. Fewer and smaller clarity characteristics mean a higher clarity grade.

Carat

Carat measures the diamond’s weight: 1 carat = 0.2 grams, and each carat is subdivided into 100 points (0.01 carat). Larger diamonds are rarer and command a higher price per carat—not just a higher total price.
